Silk Painting in Melbourne 29 Jan 2011
with Teena Hughes
Silk painting was our aim, and we had much fun trying out the seaweed outline, silk chiffon, silk habotai and the vibrant silk dyes.
Here are some of the gorgeous hand-painted silk scarves created by my Silk Painting Students on the day:

Above: Renate came up with some fabulous ideas for her silk habotai scarf, and blended red, orange, turquoise blue and purple with terrific results.

Heather's silk habotai scarf (above) was a huge success - less silk dye on the paintbrush, more control over the brush, less "flow" of the dyes, and a delicious and colourful scarf is born!

.Above: Marg jumped out of her comfort zone and went for big bold colours, with hot pink and orange dominating, and turquoise and purple adding highlights along the way. Gorgeous Marg!!

Above: Hilary's second scarf, the long shiny Habotai silk, turned into a fabulous pattern by using only two colours - red and turquoise. Where the colours merged, a third shade was created, and was almost black - yum!
When these scarves are steamed at home by each of the students (by following the easy-to-understand Silk Steaming in a Bamboo Steamer Instructions), the scarves will be washed, almost-dried and then ironed.
They'll be vibrant and colourful, and gorgeous to wear. Well done ladies!!
